Another project from a long time customer, this E-mod Speed Fire race car is built with a 12A Mazda Rotary engine along with several other custom bits. Its currently at TW for some new street wheels and tires, also the headlights, brake lights and turn signals need to be reinstalled and wired. The owner wants to be able to drive it on the street without getting hassled to much by the man. They will probably still pull him over just to get a better look at this awesome little car.
Custom spring mounts have been designed and installed.
As shown in the picture, the rear end of the Miata suspension is offset in relation to the original rear end. The crew at TW will have to design and modify the floor board of the car in order for the drive line to fit properly. Paper and cardboard cuts are the first step in designing and building modifications for the offset rear end.
The driveline has been installed to the offset rear end.
The drive shaft has been shorten and balanced in order to fit into the Miata rear suspension. Notice the custom modification that was needed on the body floor and sub frame in order to fit the drive shaft onto the offset rear end. Very clean and professional work!
The original gas tank holder is being replaced with a new modern fuel cell. For some strange reason the old fuel tank holder weighs 20 lbs... that is not counting the tank itself. The new tank will definitely be a upgrade and weight saver.
Custom aluminum panels are being designed to separate the driving compartment from the fuel cell and battery that are located in the trunk. The new custom covers will be easily removable to perform maintenance and repair.
