Another project from a long time customer, this E-mod Speed Fire race car is built with a 12A Mazda Rotary engine along with several other custom bits. Its currently at TW for some new street wheels and tires, also the headlights, brake lights and turn signals need to be reinstalled and wired. The owner wants to be able to drive it on the street without getting hassled to much by the man. They will probably still pull him over just to get a better look at this awesome little car.

It just happened to be that one of the shop partners was browsing the Calli craigslist and found a barely used set of Kodiak rims that would fit perfect on the speed fire. The rear rim dimensions are 13"x13" and the fronts are 13"x9". With a set of racing slicks and some fender extensions, this car should corner on a dime.

The roll bars, rear suspension upgrade and fuel cell and battery relocation is complete!  Its ready to test on the track.  I heard a few weeks later that is car won 1st in its class and broke the time record!  More pictures and modifications are coming!!!!

Back to street tires... there is little clearance issue between the upper arm and rim.  More modifications to come!

The rear upper a-arm does not have enough clearance between the rim and mounting bolt assembly.  The crew at TW will  trim down the top of the a-arm and weld in a solid sleeve.  This should lower the over height of the a-arm bracket assembly, but yet gain extra strength with the solid sleeve.

Since the car has new wide rear tires, they will not fit with the existing rear quarter panels.  The crew at TW made new fiberglass positives so they can made new modified ones that will compensate for the extra width.  The question that I asked, "how does the fiberglass not stick to the car when applying the glass and glue".  The answer was vegetable oil.... I would never have guessed.
